Mandy Patinkin

In 2004 at age 51, Patinkin was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The Homeland actor and Broadway vet was roughly the same age his father was when he died of pancreatic cancer. “I was lightheaded and overwhelmed, and I was weeping on the phone,” Patinkin told Coping With Cancer Magazine. Patinkin had a successful prostatectomy and has said cancer was the greatest gift he ever received.

“I took my life for granted. I would say I didn’t, but I did. And after cancer, every day is precious to me,” Patinkin said. Patinkin now maintains a healthy diet, is active and lives by the motto, “Be happy.”
