Allen Ginsburg

Best known for the poem Howl (1955), writer Ginsberg’s hepatitis C developed into cirrhosis in 1988. He was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma, a liver cancer, nine years later. Ginsberg was told he had four to 12 months left to live; he died on April 5, 1997.
