A recent news story stated that singer Stevie Wonder was dealing with a serious health issue. On Saturday, Wonder responded to those rumors with an announcement at a concert that he would be receiving a kidney transplant in September, reports The Associated Press (AP).
The 69-year-old musician revealed his intentions to concertgoers in London after performing the hit song “Superstition.” Wonder told the audience that a donor had been found and that everything would be fine. (You can view one fan’s recording of the moment below.)
“I came here to give you my love and to thank you for yours,” he said. “You ain’t gonna hear no rumors about us. I told you what’s up. I’m good.”
The superstar entertainer didn’t provide any further details about his condition nor did a representative immediately respond when the AP asked for more information.
In addition to his recent shows, Wonder recently performed at the memorial service for late rapper Nipsey Hussle in Los Angeles.
