Famous folks can use their star wattage to raise cancer awareness. In recent celebrity news, Michael Strahan’s teen daughter Isabella discussed her brain tumor on Good Morning America and on a series of YouTube vlogs. Soft rock crooner Michael Bolton took a break from touring to recover from emergency brain surgery to treat a tumor. General Hospital star John J. York underwent a stem cell transplant to treat blood and bone marrow cancers. Similarly, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R–La.) had a stem cell transplant to treat multiple myeloma. Actor Ken Hudson Campbell—known as Santa in Home Alone—shared that, after losing his insurance during the SAG-AFTRA strike, he was able to get mouth cancer surgery thanks to GoFundMe. And Big Bang Theory actress Kate Micucci posted that she had surgery for lung cancer, a diagnosis that surprised her, she said, “because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life.… But also I guess, it happens and the greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out, I’m all good.”
